JTC Marks World Mental Health Day with a ‘Wellness Week’ for Employees

JTC is marking World Mental Health Day in October by holding a ‘Wellness Week’ across its 30 offices.

Starting on Monday 10 October, activities and content will be shared internally each day with employees to promote and encourage participation in a wide range of wellbeing focused initiatives, to complement our existing mental health resources, such as the Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAs) and our online learning resources.

First celebrated in 1992, World Mental Health Day’s objective is to globally promote mental health advocacy and educate wider society about the need for change. The theme for 2022, set by the World Federation for Mental Health, is ‘make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority’. With JTC’s broad remit across its 20 jurisdictions worldwide, this theme helped inspire the aim of making wellness week accessible regardless of location. It is important that as part of the JTC community, employees feel connected to each other and to their own wellbeing and so the theme for this week is: ‘Wellbeing – What keeps you connected?’.

Wellness Week recognises that the mental and physical health journey is different for everyone and the largely employee-produced content and employee-led activities reflect this diversity of wellness. Alongside daily content shared on our intranet ‘Joogle’, there will be fresh juices delivered to every office and other activities including online fitness classes, daily masterclasses on nutrition, meditation, creativity and relaxation and recipes to inspire healthier meal choices. We have also encouraged employees from each of our offices to lead ‘Tea and Talk’ sessions to get to know one another better and ‘Wellness Walks’ to get people moving.

Employees will also be signposted to the available mental health programmes at JTC which include the Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and the dedicated team of Group wide MHFAs as part of JTC’s commitment to providing and promoting a stronger, more supportive and healthier workplace.

Carol Graham, Group Director – Human Resources, JTC, said:

“At JTC we believe that our people are our greatest asset. This is most evidenced in our Shared Ownership culture but is also true of all other employee led initiatives.

“We recognise that improving the wellbeing of our employees and making sure they know how we will support them makes sense. Our Wellness week activities provide employees with opportunities and tools to support themselves and each other and are indicative of JTC’s ongoing commitment to our people. Employees benefit from our support for their health and wellbeing, and we benefit from a healthy, happy and committed workforce, which is critical to our success #stronger together.”
