Thean Lourens

Highlights

In his role, Thean leads various client teams who are responsible for all aspects of fund accounting and administration of UK domiciled investment funds. His portfolio includes listed funds, REITs and VC/ PE structures.

Prior to joining JTC, Thean’s background was mostly audit and advisory. After qualifying as a CA(SA) from a medium sized auditing firm in Cape Town in 2014, he spent 18 months in Cayman and three years in Guernsey with one for the ‘Big Four’. He also worked for a US-based manufacturing group where he was introduced to some of Microsoft’s automation tools, which sparked a keen interest in him to explore more of its vast process-improvement capabilities.

During his time in audit, Thean gained experience across a variety of unlisted funds with investment portfolios ranging from basic level 1 instruments to complex PE structures. Thean also spent 18 months in Advisory where he advised on various projects within the offshore fund administration industry, including commercial due diligence, financial due diligence, regulatory due diligence and valuations.

In their spare time

Thean is a husband and a father of two. He enjoys adventure, camping and a variety of sports to keep fit, and likes watching sports too. On weekends, Thean enjoys family time, good food and wine and drumming in his church band.
