Community Education as a Key to EB-5 Success

In an article from Forbes, JTC’s Dr. Ed Smith explains the help communities need in order to take advantage of EB-5’s capacity for economic renewal.

A new article from Forbes about EB-5 features insights from JTC Director of Sustainability Services Edward Smith, Ph.D. In addition to highlighting the successful history of EB-5, the piece includes suggestions by Dr. Smith about how the program can be improved.

The article covers the basics of EB-5 and its history of impact, which has been well documented and heavily studied over the years. As Dr. Smith notes in the article, EB-5 capital fills a need, and with proper education, communities all over America can benefit.

“No matter which administration is in power, communities still need highways, hospitals, schools, and jobs. Foreign investment—when properly understood and deployed—is a tool for community empowerment, not just individual gain. But a key is people to champion the cause.”

As we push for permanent reauthorization of the Regional Center Program, it’s important that members of Congress understand the positive impact EB-5 has on our country, but it’s equally important for American community stakeholders to understand how EB-5 can be employed to improve their areas. By encouraging communities to utilize EB-5 capital for needed projects, we can help the program realize its full potential.
