Bruce Smith

Senior Director - Fund Services Cayman Islands 

Bruce joined JTC in 2017 and is primarily responsible for the business development of the ICS division in the Cayman Islands. In addition, his role includes the overall management and operations of a portfolio of fund administration clients. Prior to his move to the Cayman Islands, Bruce was based in South Africa and held various positions, including that of Managing Director.

With over 20 years’ financial services experience specialising in the investment funds sector, Bruce has extensive knowledge of most fund structures including hedge, debt, real estate and with a particular focus on private equity.

During his time spent in Bermuda and London, he also gained significant experience in fund management and administration working across multiple jurisdictions including EMEA, US and the Cayman Islands.

Before joining JTC, Bruce was Head of Finance for a European infrastructure fund, managing all aspects of finance including corporate cross border structuring, administration, deal flows and investor reporting. He also worked as an Audit Manager at PwC in the investment management practice.

Bruce graduated from the University of Stellenbosch in 2002 with a B Accounting (Hons), is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.

In Their Spare Time

Bruce considers himself to be very much a typical South African and loves all sports either playing or watching. He’s a pretty keen and decent golfer and also has a penchant for endurance sports having completed one Ironman and has a firm eye on a second! Bruce is also a family man and enjoys getting away with his wife and young son. Living in wine country, he’s also more than happy to dine out with friends enjoying the produce of the latest grape harvests.
