Senior Manager – Internal Audit

ROLE OVERVIEWPURPOSE OF JOB

The role holder will effectively plan and manage audit assignments, ensuring completion to a high standard within the agreed timetable with a quality of work that meets with the Group’s ethical and professional standards and supports organisational success.The role holder will ensure the analysis of JTC’s financial processes, identifying risk within business practices and evaluating the controls put in place to counter these.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Contribute towards achieving the ultimate dual objectives of the Internal Audit function, as follows:

  • Satisfying all and any regulatory requirements regarding internal audit imposed by JTC’s current regulators; and
  • (in close cooperation with JTC’s management and risks teams) identifying and auditing areas of JTC’s business which could reasonably benefit from internal audit i.e. through providing clarity and comfort on effective compliance or through the real and practical reduction of business and other risks.
  • Assist in planning audits, developing audit programmes and performing audit field work, including process documentation, control evaluations and interviewing and consulting employees.
  • Analyse large datasets using Excel to identity trends, patterns and actionable insights.
  • Prepare clear and concise audit work papers within prescribed timeframes.
  • Along with the Head of Internal Audit, discuss the findings of the audit reviews with management on a constructive basis in order to develop the most appropriate and proportionate solutions to the issues arising.
  • Support the Head of Internal Audit to report the results of audit reviews, including management responses and proposed action plan to address issues arising to the relevant stakeholders.
  • To perform follow-up work ensuring management progress actions within the agreed time scales and escalate failure to progress actions to the Head of Internal Audit as appropriate.
  • Engage with any outsourced and/or co-sourcing partners and/or guest auditor assigned to support the Internal Audit function.
  • Provide assurance that JTC’s values are preserved, that applicable rules, laws and regulations are complied with in their letter and spirit.
  • To ensure that financial statements and other information are accurate and reliable and that the wider governance, risk and control, information security, anti-fraud and anti-corruption frameworks for the JTC Group are in place and working competently.
  • Identify loopholes and recommend risk mitigation measures and cost savings.
  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards impacting JTC’s business.
  • Develop, implement and maintain internal audit policies and procedures in accordance with local and international best practice.
  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely audit information is reported to Management and/or Risk Committees.
  • Adhere to JTC core values and expected behaviours.
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary by Management.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant internal audit / controls assurance experience.
  • Familiarity with the IIA’s Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Ability to identify risks and control weaknesses.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to critically analyse large sets of financial and operational data.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Good time management and prioritisation abilities.
