JTC Advocates for EB-5 on Capitol Hill

Industry leaders met with members of Congress to talk about EB-5’s future and how we can work together to help the program thrive for years to come.

Members of JTC’s EB-5 team took to Washington, D.C. to advocate for the program and educate members of Congress about the value of EB-5 and the Regional Center Program as pillars of American immigration policy and the U.S. economy. Industry trade association Invest In the USA (IIUSA) gathered more than 30 members of its Leadership Circle to meet with key members of the House and Senate Judiciary Committee and their staffs.

In addition to advocating for reauthorization of the Regional Center Program and passage of the EB-5 Regional Center Advisory Committee Authorization Act, these discussions also allowed industry leaders and lawmakers to better understand how EB-5 is viewed from one another’s perspectives and share ways in which the program has helped (and can continue to help) different districts around the country.

“As more and more lawmakers become familiar with the EB-5 program it is important to make sure they are aware of the impact the program has had on their own communities,” said JTC Head of Specialty Administration and General Counsel USA Jill Jones after participating in IIUSA’s Leadership Summit. “Rural areas and underserved communities, the places most in need, have experienced catalytic changes, not only from the jobs created by the EB-5 projects, but from growth of local businesses to support the needs of these employees. The more we can shed a light on the positive impact this program has had, the more lawmakers and voters will support the program’s future.”

“What was so great about this event was hearing just how many lawmakers already see the benefits EB-5 has brought to their districts,” said Regional Vice President and Director Coleen Danaher, who took part in meetings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill. “EB-5 has a lot of momentum, and we’re walking away encouraged about its future.”
