JTC GLOBAL NETWORK MARKS CHANNEL ISLANDS PRIDE WEEK CELEBRATIONS

Teams from across JTC’s global network have been focusing on diversity, equality, inclusion in the workplace, in the lead up to the Channel Islands Pride celebrations in early September.

A number of articles and educational resources were made available to employees in all of JTC’s offices as part of the initiative, looking at the history and evolution of the Pride movement, including an exploration of the background behind the Stonewall Riots, the origins and future of the famous Pride flag and information about gender identity – all aimed at demystifying some of the important terms, concepts and themes Pride stands for.

Celebratory cupcakes decorated in the famous Pride rainbow were also delivered to JTC’s offices around the world, with the aim of providing visibility and education around issues facing marginalised communities and celebrating the diversity of JTC’s employees.

This work feeds into JTC’s wider commitment to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DE&I). As part of this responsibility, the Group will be launching a DE&I Business Champions Forum, providing colleagues with the opportunity to voice matters that are important to them, so that it can continue to develop its strategy with an inclusive community of diverse voices.

This year the Channel Islands are marking 50 years of Pride, with events being held in both Guernsey and Jersey over the week of 3 September, organised by Liberate Guernsey and Liberate Jersey, including a march through the islands, as well as music performances and other acts.

Wendy Holley, JTC’s Chief Operating Officer, said:

“At JTC we continue to place Diversity, Equality and Inclusion as a priority pillar within the ESG strategy.

“We are fully committed to ensuring JTC remains an employer of choice giving everyone a working environment which supports, respects and celebrates each of our differences. At the heart of our company is of course our people and it is therefore important that we continue to advance ways in which we can build upon the importance of diversity.”
