Bringing Workplace Wellbeing to the Forefront at JTC

August is widely recognised as ā€˜Wellbeing Month’ and to mark the occasion, JTC highlighted our colleague community ā€˜Wellbeing & Mind’ which supports workplace wellbeing by offering a collective space to discuss topics affecting both physical and mental wellbeing.

Practical initiatives to support workplace wellbeing

The team have led several excellent initiatives to ensure that our colleagues take the time to support their wellbeing. Earlier this year, the group welcomed Daniel White, a registered nutritionist, functional medicine certified health coach and sleep expert, to share his insights on why sleep is such an essential and often overlooked part of wellbeing. The session explored the science behind getting a good night’s sleep and provided practical ways to improve your sleep through behavioural tools and everyday habits.

Self-care tips for wellbeing at work

Next, the team highlighted their top self-care tips, which people can easily adopt to support their day-to-day wellness. Emphasising the importance of taking time out to do the things you love, setting boundaries, getting active and keeping hydrated. We spoke to the community lead, Mariana Envoldsen, about the importance of taking the time to focus on our wellbeing and the community group as a whole.

ā€œIn our busy world, we can get so swept away with the rush of things that we forget to focus on our wellbeing. It’s all too easy to prioritise other tasks over both our physical and mental wellbeing. However, the more we do this, the less we will be able to perform at our best, which can lead to burnout and demotivation. So, it’s always in our interest to find the time to dedicate to some self-care.ā€

ā€œOur colleague community exists firstly as a collective for people to discuss important topics in a safe, It also helps to focus our efforts as a business, ensuring our colleagues feel supported with their wellbeing needs. As a group, we have established three key areas of focus: Education and awareness, promoting psychological safety and support networks, and collaboration across the business, with local charities or experts to provide resources which benefit all within JTC.ā€ – Mariana Enevoldsen

Our colleagues are working together to support one another, and maintain environments where all feel welcome, supported and seen. Mariana’s holistic and practical approach to wellness is a key pillar in our inclusion and wellbeing journey.
