Sam joined JTC Law in 2024 strengthening its leadership team.
Sam is an experienced Jersey funds, corporate and regulatory lawyer and prior to joining JTC Law he headed up the Jersey investment funds practice for another leading international law firm. His practice has a particular focus on advising institutional and corporate clients, as well as high-net-worth individuals, family offices and those managing and advising private wealth. Over his career, Sam has assisted a variety of high-profile institutional/corporate clients, family offices and HNW individuals in relation to their Jersey based funds, international investment structures and businesses together with billions of pounds of related transactions in relation to real estate, private equity and venture capital assets amongst others. Sam also specialises in assisting early-stage fund and wealth managers seeking to establish new fund and holding structures.
Previous clients and valued referrers of work have included a variety of the world’s leading banks, law firms, insurance companies and investment managers in addition to high profile families and individuals.
Sam frequently advises on a full spectrum of corporate matters as well as the establishment and whole lifecycle of open and closed-ended funds and other holding structures (including on a deal-by-deal basis) and their related carried interest and incentive vehicles for a variety of asset classes including:
- Private Equity/Venture Capital
- Real Estate (including REITs and JPUTs)
- Equities/Bond
- Debt
- Infrastructure
Sam also advises on Jersey debt issuance vehicles (such as structured products) as well as regulatory issues such as financial services business licensing and AML registration issues. Having qualified as a Scottish solicitor (currently non-practising), Sam went on to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales (currently non-practising) and as a Jersey advocate in 2010. Sam joined JTC Law in 2024 following over 15 years in top tier Jersey law firms and two years as a director at a multinational administration business.
Sam has been recognised by both Legal 500 and Charters in respect of his funds expertise. He is listed in Legal 500 2024 as a Next Generation Partner and as ‘up and coming’ in Chambers UK 2024 Guide.
