Leyla Jackson & Natasha Major Appointed as STEP Board Members

JTC is celebrating the appointment of Leyla Jackson, Director in Cayman and Natasha Major, Senior Manager in the Bahamas, who have both been elected to sit on their respective regional STEP Boards.

STEP is a global professional body – comprising trustees, lawyers accountants, financial advisors and other specialists – that educates members to uphold high professional standards for inheritance and succession planning and connects professionals globally to share knowledge and best practice.

To become a STEP board member, you must first become a full member, known as TEP, by passing the relevant diplomas and qualifications or having five or more years of experience in the industry. From there, board members are elected by the council through a formal voting process.

The board consists of a small group of Directors who hold legal authority and are responsible for the organisation’s direction. These two appointments demonstrate Leyla’s and Natasha’s knowledge, experience and dedication to their work within the industry.

Leyla said:

“I was honoured to be elected for the Cayman STEP Council this year and won a seat within a group of really phenomenal individuals. The AGM was really well attended and this demonstrates to me how committed the prior council has been and what an incredible job it is doing. I am excited to be a part of such an excellent team and looking forward to both contributing and learning from such an experienced bunch of people.”

Natasha added:

“I wanted to become more involved with STEP Bahamas again, as it has been a few years since I was actively involved. I was willing to volunteer my time where needed, but I was fortunate that a council member nominated me for a position on the STEP Bahamas Board. I saw it as my sign that this is the time for a deeper involvement! I’ve missed attending the monthly STEP meetings and I am very proud to be a part of this community.”
