Mario joined JTC in August 2023 following the acquisition of South Dakota Trust Company (SDTC) where he has worked for nine years.

Mario is the General Counsel & Managing Director to South Dakota Trust Company LLC and its related entities which currently have over $165 billion in assets under administration and over $85 billion in agency relationships.

Highlights

As General Counsel, Mario serves as the chief legal officer advising on all legal aspects of SDTC and its related entities’ core fiduciary and entity services, client strategies as well as advising senior management on company strategies and their implementation.

Prior to joining SDTC in 2015, Mario was in private practice in New York City focusing on trusts & estates and corporate services for high net worth domestic and international families. Prior to entering private practice, Mario clerked for the Honorable Chief Judge Mark Switalski of the 16th Circuit Court of Michigan.

Mario enjoys spending time with his wife and two children.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan
Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law
Admitted to the State Bar of New York and Georgia
TEP designation with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP)
Board Member and Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee for STEP New York
