With hundreds of employees across global locations, we’re proud to work with a large and diverse range of talented people. In line with our ‘Shared Ownership’ culture and ‘Guiding Principles’ foundations - and in appreciation of their endeavours outside of the working environment - the Group aims to financially support individuals who choose to undertake personal challenges on behalf of charities or initiatives close to their own hearts.
Everyone has a choice in the part they play and here’s a selection of some of things that Team JTC has been involved with …
Fundraising for the British Heart Foundation, some crazy Team JTC put themselves to the test in the ultimate sand dune challenge by racing over a choice of gruelling distances and tackling obstacles including an electric curtain, a spider’s web and a Tarzan swing.
In a family effort, Philip Gallienne and his son Daniel cycled 500 miles in the Slovenian summer sun with all funds donated for their efforts being split between Cancer Research UK and Lungevity Guernsey.
Fancying himself as an up and coming pugilist, Will 'Bootstrap Bill' Parker from our Cape Town office trained hard to take part in a white collar boxing charity event organised to raise funds for a number of local charities.
In our support of our staff who undertake their own personal charitable challenges, we've been more than happy to donate money to Elizabeth Phillips in recognition of all the work she does for Headway Jersey. The charity provides free support, information and services to people with a brain injury, their families and carers. She’s organised quiz nights, various supermarket bag packs, a raffle, created Christmas hampers, climbed mountains, competed in distances runs, finished the 48 mile round the Island walk
Alison Robison sky dived out of a plane circling some 10,000 feet above Jersey's terra firma in order to raise some funds and awareness for the Huntington's Disease Association and Team JTC was right behind her – well not quite with our own parachute on but with a Group donation towards her cause.
Emma Clayton from our Guernsey office completed the 26.2 scenic miles of the London Marathon and raised significant funds for the Lord Taverners - a disability sports charity working with disabled children to enhance their lives through sport and recreation, giving young people a ‘sporting chance.
Lured by the promise of a Spring cycling jaunt, David Vieira actually completed most of his 11.5 hours Mallorca 312km ride in unseasonably frosty and wet conditions! He was, however, fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Research which meant there was no stopping whatsoever!
In memory of a close family member, Becky Henwood-Darts committed to running the Jersey Marathon to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We have been delighted to support Latoya Cover one of our Caribbean team who is a member of The Cayman Islands Flag Football Association (CIFFA) Women’s National squad and who has represented her country in the international arena in a sport described as ‘American Football without the pads’. She’s been involved with the Association since 2010 and whilst striving to better their game all the time, everyone is also committed to getting involved in various charitable projects on the island bringing a great sense of community.
Solvena Moore and Latoya Cover are keen runners who regularly take part in charity race events in Cayman and who can blame them - wouldn’t you prefer to run on a safe, beautiful Caribbean island, surrounded by tropical flora and fauna, charming homes flawlessly landscaped and magnificent views of the sea?!
In 2017, Marilisa Garnier represented Jersey in the bi-annual Island Games held in Gotland which saw over 2500 athletes heralding from 23 islands from, Europe, South Atlantic and the Caribbean area, competing in 14 sporting disciplines. She came home to us with a silver medal won for her badminton prowess.
Pedalling away on behalf of the British Heart Foundation, Robert Monticelli undertook the four day cycle challenge between London and Paris covering 300 miles and still having enough energy to raise his bike in victory at the end of it all.
Michelle Le Herissier, a very keen diver and environmentalist out in the BVI, hired out a local bar and hosted her own public event to show ‘A Plastic Ocean’ – an epic ground-breaking film that details the shocking impact plastic is having on all aspects of marine life. Supported by JTC, a retiring collection saw thousands of dollars being donated to The Plastic Oceans Foundation which supports a global network of independent not-for-profits and charitable organizations, united in their aims to change the world's attitude towards plastic within a generation.
