Senior Manager – Finance Operations

ROLE OVERVIEWPURPOSE OF JOB

We are seeking a Senior Manager to support our Group Finance department, with a primary focus on the Accounts Receivable (AR) function.

The Senior Manager will be accountable for ensuring the billing function operates with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, control, and compliance with local and international laws and regulations. This role will provide strategic leadership across billing operations, drive process optimisation and continuous improvement, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and ensure the team delivers a high standard of service in support of broader business objectives.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional, ideally from the financial services industry, to play a key leadership role in shaping billing strategy, strengthening governance and controls, and leading a high-performing team in a dynamic, multi-jurisdictional environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Lead and oversee the end-to-end billing and AR function across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring operational excellence, accuracy, timeliness and compliance with applicable local and international laws and regulations.
  • Provide leadership to the billing team, ensuring appropriate structures, controls, processes, and resources are in place to support current and future business needs.
  • Review, approve, and provide oversight on complex and high-value billing requests, ensuring completeness, accuracy, commercial alignment and compliance prior to finalisation.
  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex billing issues, client queries, disputes, and cross-jurisdictional matters, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, senior internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to support effective billing operations and resolve issues proactively.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across billing and AR processes, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls, improve reporting, and leverage industry trends, systems, and emerging technologies.
  • Implement and monitor billing policies, procedures, controls, and service standards to ensure consistency, transparency, and alignment with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee team performance to ensure invoices are generated and delivered on time, outstanding items are proactively followed up, client inquiries are managed effectively, and departmental KPIs and service levels are achieved.
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and team members within the billing function, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, high performance, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with senior finance leadership, the Commercial Office, administration teams, and other stakeholders to support annual fee reviews, including fee increase proposals, implementation of new fees, approval processes, and billing execution.
  • Provide management information, reporting, and analysis on billing performance, aged receivables, operational risks, and process effectiveness to support decision-making by senior leadership.
  • Ensure robust governance and risk management practices are embedded within the billing function, including audit readiness, documentation standards, and adherence to internal controls.
  • Support wider Group Finance initiatives, transformation projects, system enhancements, and organisational priorities as required.
  • Undertake any other duties as deemed necessary by Management.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven and substantial experience in billing, AR or finance operations, with strong expertise in managing multi-jurisdictional billing environments.
  • Significant leadership experience in a managerial role, with responsibility for leading teams, managing performance, and driving operational excellence within a billing or finance function.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling complex billing operations, stakeholder management, escalations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing team members, including managers or supervisors.
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; professional accounting or finance qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA, AAT or equivalent) are an advantage.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a high degree of accuracy in reviewing financial documentation and billing outputs.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, lead multiple workstreams, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and maintain effective working relationships across jurisdictions, functions, and external stakeholders.
  • Commercially aware, solutions-oriented, and able to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Strong leadership capability, with a collaborative approach and the ability to inspire, influence, and drive results through others.
