Assistant Fund Accountant

ROLE OVERVIEW

PURPOSE OF JOB

The Assistant Fund Accountant at SALI provides essential support to the fund accounting team by handling routine accounting and operational tasks. This role is ideal for someone looking to start or grow their career in fund accounting and financial services, while developing a broad understanding of core processes in a collaborative environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Assist fund accountants with daily transaction processing, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and documentation.
  • Prepare and organize supporting schedules and workpapers for monthly and quarterly NAV calculations.
  • Support the timely recording and maintenance of fund expenses, income, and journal entries.
  • Assist in A/P and A/R processes for SALI Funds.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records in accounting systems and shared drives.
  • Support routine communications with third-party administrators and service providers as directed.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute ideas to optimize workflow and accuracy.
  • Perform other clerical and administrative tasks to support the fund accounting function as needed.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or substantial progress towards degree).
  • 1-3 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or finance internship/work experience (fund/accounting experience a plus but not required).
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable learning new accounting systems.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Team player.
