Gateway Testimonial – Candice Henderson

Name: Candice Henderson
Title: Associate Director – Risk and Compliance
When did you join JTC?

I joined JTC in 2015 following the acquisition of Kleinwort Benson’s fund administration business.

Where did you previously live and you relocate to?

I lived in Fish Hoek, a coastal town situated about halfway down the Cape Peninsula of South Africa, and relocated to a small village outside of the historic medieval market town of Saffron Walden in the UK.

“The stars aligned with an ideal role opening up and focused on Policy and Procedure Governance, the exact type of specialist role I was looking to move into.”

What was the opportunity, and why was it appealing to you?

My husband and I were looking to relocate to the UK, and it was ideal for me to transfer with JTC. I had been with the South Africa office for 9 years during which time I bought my first house and started a family. I had also seen the South Africa office go through two acquisitions, becoming JTC in 2015, growing in size from 50 to over 180 professionals, as well as JTC listing on the London Stock Exchange in 2018. These were incredible milestones that I shared with JTC, and it didn’t quite feel like that journey was ready to end, which it wasn’t. The stars aligned with an ideal role opening up and focused on Policy and Procedure Governance, the exact type of specialist role I was looking to move into.

How supportive was JTC during your transition?

Emigrating is hugely stressful, but everything fell into place seamlessly.

What is the No. 1 thing to see/do in your new jurisdiction?

Everything! There is so much to see and do. Everyday feels like a sightseeing adventure and we’ve been here 16 months already.

What lesson did you learn from this experience?

Resilience

What was the big highlight?

Our home is based on a farm surrounded by sweeping countryside views as far as the eye can see.

Any downside?

Not having the rest of our family here with us to share in our adventures.

Why do you think the international experience that Gateway offers is important?

Being able to transfer internationally has broadened my perspective and highlights how connected we all are at JTC by working towards a common goal as one global and accessible village.

What advice would you give someone considering a career at JTC?

If you’re looking for a company to grow with, one that you can invest in and will do the same for you, while wanting to be a part of something bigger, then JTC’s the place!
